The ASWSU Senate consists of 21 Senators representing each academic college, the Honors College, uncertified students, and students at-large. There are also three Freshman Delegates and one Transfer Delegate. Our purpose is to frequently discuss issues and concerns with our constituents as well as university administrators, and gain consensus for each matter on behalf of the ASWSU. Additionally, the Senate is a financial resource for Registered Student Organizations through the Crimson and Gray Funding application. RSOs can submit requests to the Senate in order to fund programs, events, and opportunities. Information on the Crimson and Gray Funding application, as well as the application itself, can be found, here, on CougSync.
Decisions made by the Senate guide current and future actions of ASWSU. Senators and Delegates can amend the ASWSU Bylaws through writing and passing bills, or state the opinion or intent of ASWSU through resolutions. Senate agendas, minutes, and legislation can be found, here, on CougSync.
The ASWSU Senate meets every Wednesday at 5:30 pm in the Senate meeting room, CUB 204, unless otherwise stated. These meetings are open to the public.
There are currently 5 open positions on the Senate: 1 All-Campus Senator, 3 Freshman Delegates, and 1 Transfer Delegate. Applications can be found, here, on CougSync.
Here you can find pieces of legislation, or projects previous Senate's have completed. The 48th Senate is the legislative body for the 2018-2019 academic year. The Senate is currently not in session for the summer, but will resume at their first meeting August 22nd at 5:30 pm in CUB 204.
